Stone Mason

Born in Turin on December 23rd 1953, but native of Valle dei Cavalieri, a former property of Countess Matilde di Canossa near Parma, in 1980 he graduated in Sculpture at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts of Turin with Professor Sandro Cherchi, winning the Uberti Award. He specialized in the stonework field, getting the certificate of "Cut and handwork of marble, stone and granite" in a course taught by the sculptor Pietro Lorenzoni.

In the years 1980-1981 he worked periodically at the Canaloni (Carrara) and La Cappella (Seravezza) quarries on the hand squaring of White Statuario Marble and Bardiglio Marble blocks. Teacher of Sculpture and Anatomy till 1995, he took part in many general and personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

Actually he lives in Turin (Italy). He works as a stone cutter doing handwork on marbles, granites and stones. He also does handwork on the monumental and decorative epigraphic engraving on tombstones and ecclesiastic tablets. In addition, he does restoration of antique marbles and works on the remaking of marble ornaments. He is an independent artist whose works are all done in the tradition of the Commacine Masters (Magistri Commacini).

He has been member of the organization "Men of the Stones" of Stamford (England). He's part of the board of directors of "L'informatore del marmista" and "Marmor", publications of Zusi Editore of Verona.

In Turin he's stone cutter by "Our Lady of Health" and "St. Michael Sacra" churches.
